March 10, 2012

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every organization that participated in our first charity contest of 2012. It was a huge success! If you follow us on Twitter, Facebook or our blog, then you’re already in the know of who won, with 48 reviews in just 4 weeks: Learning it Together (LiT)!

Based at Western University, LiT is a volunteer and student run group that promotes early childhood literacy, numeracy and healthy-living skills through mentorship and role-modeling. Participating students from the University work with elementary school-aged children in London, Ontario in an eight week after-school program.

Here are just a few of the things their volunteers had to say:

“LiT epitomizes 'hope, optimism and healthy living.' It is a wonderful experience and I look   forward to it every week!”- Chander K.

“ It is a great way to help educate kids and really feel like they are learning. I look forward to it every week just as much as the kids do!”- Anonymous

“ I really feel like I am making a difference in the lives of children, and the children are making a difference in my life. I would not be the person I am today without this volunteer experience.” -Anonymous

“It was a learning experience for me just as it was for them and I think both parties valued the time spent together.” -Eryn P.
